Celebrate the Small Things is a weekly celebration created by VikLit and now hosted by Lexa Cain to celebrate the happenings of the week, however small or large. You can learn all about it and sign up for it here.
For the past couple of weeks, it seems like a lot of my daily activities have revolved around snow. So, my celebrations:
- For the moment, the sky is blue, and it’s not snowing! Unfortunately, that won’t last long. We’re supposed to get more snow this weekend. Am I glad I don’t live in Boston.
- I’m getting plenty of exercise. I’ve shoveled varying amounts of snow out of my 100 ft. long, steep driveway 11 out of the last 17 days.
- We have more than enough snow to go sledding — our favorite winter outdoor activity. Now, if it would just warm up above zero…
What other celebrations are going on out there?

Brrrr. Sounds cold where you are. Your driveway is really long! At least it’s good exercise and gets the blood moving. And then coming in to a cup of hot cocoa is nice, right? Happy Valentine’s Day!

Hot cocoa — oh, yes, most definitely! Happy Valentine’s Day to you, too!

Yay for sunshine! I am jealous of the snow.. mostly, though at this point it’s just that I’m missing out being out in Northern New England during record-levels of snow.
I am now celebrating that I am done with what has been a really trying week on many fronts. It is done, and I have weekend plans for recuperation to get a fresh start on Monday.

Sounds a little chilly! But to be honest, I’m a little jealous of the snow. We don’t get it here and I miss it. Although I’m sure if I had to shovel it, I might not be quite so fond of it….

Snow does look beautiful on the trees and all that, but when it comes to shoveling, after a while, enough is enough. I just wish Mother Nature would agree…

Brrrrr is right! I can’t imagine living in an arctic area where it’s even colder all the time. Happy Valentine’s Day to you as well! Have a great weekend!

We’ve had loads of snow, but due to having a cold most of the time I’ve only taken my little girl sledging once which I regret a bit. We have a great slope down the road which is good!

Sorry to hear you’ve been under the weather. That is no fun at all. I hope you’ll get some sledding in before the snow melts. I’m sure you have plenty of time.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Lori! It’s going down to -40C (with the windchill) overnight here, so definitely brrrr! I can’t wait until March…

I guess I shouldn’t mention I live in Florida? All that snow sounds intense! I hope it’s gone soon, though sledding sounds fun 🙂

Florida? Ooh, that must be nice. Yes, sledding is tons of fun. I’m not a skier, so it’s the one winter activity I enjoy. My kids and I have a blast.

Hmm…..where is all this snow coming from? I think you got some of ours. The NW is sunny and in the 50s right now. Not good for skiers but nice for coffee on the patio. Stay warm!!

I’d send some over to you if I could! 🙂

Sounds like you’ve got a snowy time where you are. It’s 47 and clear here at 9AM. No sledding in my near future.

Sounds nice and balmy compared to here. I could handle that.

A 100 ft driveway and you don’t have a snow blower? Goodness. I’m wishing you a snow blower.

Ha. Thanks. I used to have one years ago, but it seemed like I spent half my time chasing it down the hill.

Aww, I wish I could complain about snow! Here it never gets serious, doesn’t even last long on the street!

I’m fine with snow until Christmas, and then I’m ready for it to go. However, I have no say in the matter. 🙂

Snow could be fun, but also a lot of hard work! Here’s to appreciating the good experiences!

That’s very true. And it’s much easier to get through it if you look at the positive side of things.
