Celebrate the Small Things is a weekly celebration created by VikLit and now hosted by Lexa Cain to celebrate the happenings of the week, however small or large. You can learn all about it and sign up for it here.
This week, I’m celebrating the wonderful warm weather! (Finally!) It has been sunny and 70s-80s all week. I’ve been raking like mad to get all the leaves off my lawn before the grass gets too tall. I can’t believe how fast it’s growing. The trees are leafing out, and two of my flowering shrubs are in full bloom. It’s so nice!
I’m also still celebrating surviving the A to Z Challenge! This was my second year with it, and it definitely was more of a challenge this time around (sorry, no pun intended), because I didn’t get many posts written in advance and ended up writing most of them on the day they were to be posted, which didn’t leave me much time for visiting other blogs. The general crazy busyness of life didn’t help, either.
In spite of that, I enjoyed the Challenge and look forward to catching up with all the amazing A to Zs that I missed. So many interesting themes! Not only am I entertained, but I learn a lot, too. Thank you to all the co-hosts and their teams for monitoring and visiting everyone during this huge undertaking! What an awesome job!
What other celebrations are going on out there?

You’re getting the warmer weather, while here in Australia it’s getting colder. I like the cold… perfect for writing:)

I don’t mind cool, but I’m so done with cold for a while. 🙂

Pretty shrubs! Is the pink one an azalea maybe? We have a red one flowering just now – colour has finally arrived here too. Something to celebrate!

It all happened this past week. It was like all of a sudden — poof! Foliage and flowers where bare branches used to be. Hope you enjoyed your weekend!

LOVE that forsythia – that’s how they should look; all disheveled and free-flowing.
Perhaps an azalea if no a rhododendron? Same family I think. Can’t grow ’em west of the Mississippi. Wa-a-a-a-h

That’s a great description! The forsythia was so much smaller when we moved in 15 years ago. It’s just gone wild.
It probably is an azalea. That’s too bad they don’t grow out where you are. They’re beautiful flowers.

Lori, i must admit that’s probably the tallest forsythia I’ve ever seen, but i love its glorious reach. It makes up for all the poor, stunted shrubs that owners trim without realizing that forsythias thrive best when they can flow.

We’re having some fantastic weather here, too – it makes it hard to concentrate on writing! Happy Mother’s Day to you, Lori. 🙂

Yes, it’s hard not to be outside.
Thanks, Sue! I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend!

I love your forsythia bush! We had many of those at the house I grew up in. Whenever I see one of them, I always think of spring (and that the branches make an awesome “switching” sound).

Thanks, Kristin! I know when the forsythia blooms, spring has finally arrived. I never heard the switching sound. Interesting!

I just love the color in your backyard–over grown or not. It can’t help but get the spring fever burning. 🙂

Nice pictures! I particularly like the moss on the roof.
Good job at surviving the A-to-Z challenge. I think I would’ve died. I’d intended on visiting people, but life offline got too busy. I applaud you for staying on top of it!

Ha, ha, yes, I really should clean that off, but I like the way it looks.
Thanks, Loni! It sounded like things were pretty crazy in your neck of the woods. There’s only so much time in the day.
