Celebrate the Small Things!

Celebrate the Small Things is a weekly celebration created by VikLit and now hosted by Lexa Cain to celebrate the happenings of the week, however small or large. You can learn all about it and sign up for it here. CelebrateSmallThings_Badge

I spent this morning helping set up for the Spring Book Fair at school. I enjoy checking out all the new books, and so do my kids. They can’t wait for the Fair to open on Monday. This week I’d like to celebrate:

  1. Books! They can enrich your life in ways you never imagined.
  2. Another snow day! Or maybe I should call it an ice day, since we had more ice than snow. The roads were so bad that even police cars parked on the side of the road at accident sites slid off into the ditch by themselves.
  3. Going to the movies this weekend! My kids aren’t little anymore, but they’ve never outgrown Disney. (And I hope they never do.)
  4. Next Tuesday, March 8th, is National Pancake Day at IHOP! Free pancakes! Whoo, hoo! I am so there.

What other celebrations are going on out there?

  1. That snow storm and icy roads sound dangerous. I’m glad no one from your family slid into a ditch. Yay for Disney movies with your kids, and double yay for FREE PANCAKES!! I haven’t had a pancake in ages. They don’t sell nice fat American ones here, just skinny Italian ones that are more like crepes with powdered sugar on them. It ain’t a real pancake if you can’t smother it in maple syrup!!

    • We never left our house that day. My steep driveway was a sheet of ice. I really had to put the ice melt to it to clear it off. Sounds like you need a griddle so you can make your own pancakes. The skinny ones just won’t do. And I agree, you can’t have a pancake without maple syrup! Enjoy your weekend!

  2. Free pancakes sounds yummy. Books do keep us company and teach us a lot too. My TBR stack is so tall it’s about to tumble over. Be careful in that ice. It’s no fun. We were fortunate this winter and had a mild one, minus the snow and ice. Have a great weekend. Enjoy the movies with your kids.

  3. Sorry to hear about the snow… here in Australia, it’s so hot I’m hiding in the house in air conditioning… we need a balance of both our worlds hehe

  4. Oh, I didn’ t know about National Pancake Day! We’ll have to make some to celebrate. Glad you’re going to enjoy the movies with the kids. Snow and ice can be downright scary. We don’t like it much, except it looks pretty.

  5. Snow day? Whooboy, I’m glad I’m not living over there. I’m enjoying getting by with just a jacket right now.

Books are a great reason to celebrate!
