Celebrate the Small Things is a weekly celebration created by VikLit and now hosted by Lexa Cain to celebrate the happenings of the week, however small or large. You can learn all about it and sign up for it here.
Wow, how did we get to the end of September already? This week I’d like to celebrate:
- My parents came over to my house and my Dad helped me fix my broken picket fence gate and a couple of other things. He’s great at that sort of thing.
- We went to open house at the high school and I heard nothing but good things about my kids.
- I went through a jurying process and was accepted into one of the larger craft shows that will be coming up in November. So now I have four craft shows/farmer’s markets lined up for this fall, plus an event at Barnes & Noble, and I’m hoping to add one more craft show for the holidays.
- I had my car inspected and all they found wrong with it was that it needed new front tires. Whoo, hoo! (I was expecting much worse.)
- We survived another driving lesson.
What other celebrations are going on out there?

Lori, congrats on the successful open house! Great to be a good parent and to have a good parent too by the sound of it! Hope the craft shows are a success, sounds like great fun and work too.

That’s awesome about all of those events! How do you find all of them?

I learn about some of them through my membership with my local Artists’ Guild, which is full of crafters. Others I find by doing an internet search of craft shows and farmer’s markets in my area/state. I also watch for ads in the local media that tell about upcoming shows. There are a lot of opportunities out there.

When I read how your dad helped you, it made me think of my father who was always helping me with one thing or another. I miss him so much, he’s been gone for 5 years now.
Congrats on surviving driving lessons, I remember those days quite well!!!

Nice positive post! Sound like you had a great week. Deep envy re the car – mine looks as if it’s been involved in a war at the moment – but a least it’s still running. 🙂

Ha, ha, if it’s still running — that’s what counts. 🙂

Congrats on surviving driving lessons. I’m not looking forward to going through that again with my youngest in a few years. And nothing is better than hearing good things about your kids at conferences, especially by the time they are in high school.

Thanks, Jean! I’ll have to go through it again very soon because my son just turned 15 and is chomping at the bit to drive. I told them one at a time, though.
That’s very true!

A new driver. I remember those days. My daughter had five accidents her first year. I don’t know how I survived. Good luck!

Oh, that’s scary. Now I don’t want her to drive. Ever.

My dad always fixed my computer hassles. Dads are awesome.
Excellent line up for exhibiting. Are you selling books or are you multi-talented and crafty too?

Yes, they are. I’m mainly selling my books, but I did make some cord necklaces with little sword charms to give away as free gifts with a book purchase. And yes, I did keep one for myself. I couldn’t resist. 🙂

I did an elementary school fair this weekend and WOW, it was SO fun! I sold about 30 books and met so many cool kids. I may have even gotten a school visit out of it. Although I’m now only doing school visits if they order 25 books before I arrive. (I just did, literally, THREE where I sold a total of one book for each–so NO!) I’m looking for more craft fairs for Christmas, but I have a feeling some of these I’m looking at don’t have many attendees.

Wow, that’s great about the school fair sales! Sometimes it’s hard to know what fairs will provide good sales and what ones won’t. I usually look up publicity from past fairs to see what kind of attendance they have before signing up.
