The Road Once Taken
Jacinda Harper just wants a vacation — a little time to spend with an old friend and her new baby. But a speeding car on a rain-slicked road crashes just ahead of her, and alters her life forever.
The last wish from the dying woman in the wrecked car sends Jaci to a lonely mansion, where she finds a mysterious grandfather clock, a cryptic diary, and a strange key… and magic…
Unwittingly transported into a fantastical world of ominous castles, wild forests, and rebel swordsmen — a world ruled by a ruthless sorcerer whose quest for world domination has long been thwarted by the loss of a magical key stolen from this world long ago — the key that Jaci has just brought back into his reach…
Jaci must find a way back to her own world before the sorcerer finds her.

Trouble By Any Other Name
sequel to Lady, Thy Name Is Trouble
Tara Triannon is no stranger to trouble. She’s yet to find an enemy her skill with a sword couldn’t dispatch. But how can she fight one that attacks through her dreams?
With her nightmares worsening, Tara seeks answers but finds only more questions. Then her sister, Laraina, reveals a stunning secret that forces Tara to go to the one place Tara’s sworn never to return to. Her troubles multiply when Jovan Trevillion, the secretive soldier of fortune who stole her heart, is mentally tortured by an ancient Being intent on bending him to its will. And worst of all, the Butcher — the terrifying wolf-like assassin she thought she’d killed — survived their duel and is hunting her again.
Hounded by enemies, Tara sets out on a harrowing quest to discover the true nature of who she is, to come to grips with the new volatility of her magic, and to defeat the evil locked in a centuries-old trap that will stop at nothing to control her magic and escape through her nightmares.

Lady, Thy Name Is Trouble
When a surprise invasion throws the kingdom of Dhanarra into chaos, swords-for-hire sisters Tara and Laraina Triannon are caught in the middle. And when they manage to escape, along with Dhanarra’s playboy prince (Laraina’s current lover) and a fledgling sorceress whose spells often go askew, the sisters find themselves at the top of the invading general’s hit list. Pursued by the Butcher, a relentless assassin more wolf than man, the Triannon sisters, with the prince and the sorceress in tow, flee to the south. Their goal – to reach the safety of the neighboring kingdom of Faragellyn to warn of the general’s plan to attack – before the Butcher gets to them. Standing in their way – miles of hostile territory, legions of enemy soldiers, and a malevolent Bog so deadly that of the few who have gone in, only one man has come out alive.
That man is Jovan Trevillion, a soldier of fortune scarred by a dark past. Drawn to him in spite of her misgivings, Tara convinces Trevillion to guide her and the others through the Bog. The Butcher, battling demons of his own, closes in. Then a near-fatal attack forces Tara to reveal her magic, long kept secret. Nightmares, caused by the use of her powers, torment her as an evil being, caught in a centuries-old trap, seeks to escape through her dreams.
Tara must find a way to stop the marauding general’s quest for vengeance, save herself and her companions from the Butcher, and somehow prevent the evil being from destroying her mind and escaping to annihilate the world of Alltyyr.

Hello, Ms. MacLaughlin,
I was recently vacationing in the Stowe area and picked up “Lady, Thy Name Is Trouble” at Bear Pond and loved it. I went back to Bear Pond and bought your other two books. I just finished “The Road Once Taken” and can’t wait to see if you are planning next. Thank you so much for sharing your stories.
Respectfully,
