Celebrate the Small Things is a weekly celebration created by VikLit and now hosted by Lexa Cain to celebrate the happenings of the week, however small or large. You can learn all about it and sign up for it here.
The month of May continues to whiz on by. I’m starting to think I might get my spring yard work done before winter sets in again. 🙂 This week I’m celebrating:
- Being able to attend and learn from author events.
- Finally getting my lawn mowed.
- The long Memorial Day weekend, with a moment of silence to remember those who are no longer with us.
What other celebrations are going on out there?

Remembering those I’ve lost will always be the most important part of this weekend. We visit cemeteries, plant flowers, and never forget.

Yes, remember the purpose of Memorial Day isn’t just to give you a three-day weekend, folks.
I’m celebrating cooler weather!

Amen.
Cooler weather is nice. However, it’s supposed to get down into the 20s tonight, which is a bit too chilly for me for this time of year. Give me 50s – 70s and I’m happy.

So it’s not just me who feels that May is passing quickly? Actually I feel things have been flying by since January. I always plan to do so much and then only accomplish a part of it… Glad you got your lawn taken care of before the big weekend so you can honor the fallen and enjoy yourself too. 🙂

The beginning of the year went by sloooowly for me because of all the snow and freezing cold. Especially February and March. I didn’t think spring was ever going to get here. May has just flown by, though. At this rate, it’ll be fall before I get to enjoy summer. Ack!

I read your post on attending the author bookshop and library appearances and can see why these are part of your celebrations this week – quite big parts of what your future will be bringing. I just hadn’t realised once you’d written a book what else would be necessary – quite daunting I think!! Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment – I’m writing my Celebrate post today so pop back later if you have time 🙂 Special Teaching at Pempi’s Palace

If I seriously had thought about all the things I’d have to do after publishing my book, I might have had second thoughts… and maybe third and fourth thoughts. I’ll be over to read your Celebrations post.

Thank you for the visit and sweet comment, much appreciated. Hubby had to mow while it was raining last wkend, it had rained so much he hadn’t been able to get out, so started even though it was wet, and about half way through it started raining again and he just kept at it, lol. I mowed again yesterday. It really needed it, guess we’re in the twice a wk time frame with these too cool temps and rain.

You’re welcome. That’s funny. We’ve been really dry here. We could use some more rain. It does not make for good mowing weather, though.

I’m so happy it’s the unofficial start of summer. This is my FAVORITE season 🙂 so I’m celebrating that, and my new book deal!

I definitely like the warm weather better than the cold. Congrats on your book deal! That’s exciting!

I am celebrating the fact that I am almost over my evil cold virus. I haven’t been able to do much of anything over the past little while! Hope you have a good long weekend, Lori.

Thanks, Sue! Poor you. That must have been one nasty bug. Glad you’re getting over it. I hope you can relax and recuperate over the weekend.

Those sound like wonderful ways to spend the weekend. We have an arts festival in town, and have been enjoying it very much. Plus, of course, spending time with friends and family.

Friends and family time is the best. The arts festival sounds like a lot of fun, too. Thanks for stopping by!

Our yardwork situation is similar . . .
But yay for author events and moments of silence on this weekend!

Thanks, Tyrean! One of these days I’ll catch up. 🙂
By the way, I tried to comment on your “W” A to Z post a couple of times, but the comment never appeared. Not sure why.

Thanks! Usually by the time I get around to mowing my lawn, it can be mistaken for a hayfield.

Yay for that gorgeous smell of freshly cut grass, that’s definitely something to celebrate. For me this week it’s that the torrential rain has finally come to an end so I can leave the flat and go hiking. I was literally developing cabin fever and Poppy was turning in the devil dog from not enough time outside!

Ugh, cabin fever. I had enough of that this winter when it was freezing all the time. Glad you’re finally able to go hiking. Need that fresh air!

That’s one thing I forget about, the cold, harsh winters — we get 3 months of winter her and it’s so mild…. It’s horrid when you’re stuck indoors, whatever the reason!
