IWSG — Prepublication Jitters

Today’s the day for the Insecure Writer’s Support Group (IWSG) where, on the first Wednesday of every month, writers get together to share their insecurities and offer encouragement. The IWSG was created by Alex J. Cavanaugh, and you can learn all about it and sign up for it here. Insecure Writers Support Group Badge

My insecurities this month revolve around the impending release of my second book: Trouble By Any Other Name. I’m excited to get it out there, but I’m really nervous about it, too. The usual worries chase each other around in my head. Will anyone like it? Will it sell? Etc., etc., ad nauseum.

I’d also like to avoid the glitches I had with the e-book last time. I’m hoping everything will go smoothly over the next couple of weeks until it comes out, but I know all about Murphy’s Law, so I’m not taking anything for granted. You’d think that since I’ve done this once already I wouldn’t be so nervous about it, but it doesn’t seem to matter. I’ll be glad when the launch is over and I can relax and get back to writing.

I’m working on setting up a release day blitz and blog tour. If anyone who hasn’t already signed up (thank you!!) would like to help me out with one or the other or both, I’d really appreciate it! Please let me know in the comments. I’ll be happy to return the favor. Thank you!!!

  1. I signed up already & am looking forward to sharing your book! I checked your last post – great cover! I love it when books in a series look like they belong together. Well done!

    • Thanks, Juneta! Yes, I did read her comment. It was very informative. I see her point, but it still seems crazy to have the e-books more expensive than the print version. It works for me, though, because I prefer print books. 🙂

  2. Ah, release time… There’s nothing so invigorating or terrifying. Do you have your spreadsheet up to record everything that needs to be done? When I’ve got a book about to release, I pretty much just want to have a grave dug and ready. =) You’re going to rock this.

  3. Congrats!

When you are the one doing everything, all the pressure falls on you and it can just about make you nuts. You can try to be a one woman army or you can relax and just do what you can do.

  4. Go girl! Yes, no book is ever the same and no release ever easy, no matter how many times you’ve done it, so keep your chin up and smile!!! What a problem to have right? A new book coming out!!! Yay!! Thanks Lori, for dropping by my blog.

  7. That is awesome, Lori!

I’ve been struggling to stay caught up with the bloggosphere lately, so would you mind linking to your blitz/tour stuff? I’m hosting Chrys on the 18, but I don’t have anything for the 25th yet (if that’s in your range).
