Celebrate the Small Things is a weekly celebration created by VikLit and now hosted by Lexa Cain to celebrate the happenings of the week, however small or large. You can learn all about it and sign up for it here.
It’s been another busy week. Things I’m celebrating:
- A good friend’s birthday party coming up on Saturday!
- My Barnes & Noble book signing on Sunday!
- Swimming at the beach! The water level was really low, but we were still able to swim around and cool off.
- Driving go-karts! My daughter is really nervous about driving and taking Driver’s Ed. this fall, so she’s getting some practice beforehand in go-karts. Makes my son pretty happy, too. He loves the karts.
What other celebrations are going on out there?

Have fun at the book signing! The go-karts sound like a great idea, except for holding the gas pedal down all the way most of the time 😉 The beach looks lovely and so cool!

Thank you! Ha, ha, that’s what my son does with the gas pedal. I’ve already told him he’s not getting his license until he’s 50.

Here’s hoping your daughter doesn’t drive a car like a kart driver….! Have a good time at the signing.

Thanks, Julia! She’s still poking along very timidly and bumping into the guardrails. I prefer she do that with a go-kart, rather than my car. 🙂

Congrats on the book signing. And have fun with go karts. This week I’m celebrating the fact I haven’t died from the heat. Yet. There’s never an ice age around when you need one.

Thank you! Ha, ha, I know what you mean. Someone needs to invent personal air conditioners.

Go karts sound like a good way to get a feel for driving before actually driving. As long as she doesn’t get too confident and start flooring it…

I’m hoping this won’t turn her into a speed demon. 🙂

I hope your book signing is fun and successful as well. My husband and sons like go karts too. Hope your daughter gets more confident with driving. It just takes practice.

Best of luck with your B&N signing. Post pics!!! I have one of those coming up in a month and I’m already super nervous about it. I thought it was going to be a panel-type thing but it turns out it’s just me. In a town where I know zero people. YIKES!!!

Driving a go-kart as practice? That sounds like fun. I was a nervous new driver at that age as well. I kept telling myself that since everybody (over the age of 16) drive, it couldn’t be that hard. But parallel parking? That’s a skill.

Parallel parking is definitely a challenge.
