I spent this morning helping set up for the Spring Book Fair at school. I enjoy checking out all the new books, and so do my kids. They can’t wait for the Fair to open on Monday. This week I’d like to celebrate:

  1. Books! They can enrich your life in ways you never imagined.
  2. Another snow day! Or maybe I should call it an ice day, since we had more ice than snow. The roads were so bad that even police cars parked on the side of the road at accident sites slid off into the ditch by themselves.
  3. Going to the movies this weekend! My kids aren’t little anymore, but they’ve never outgrown Disney. (And I hope they never do.)
  4. Next Tuesday, March 8th, is National Pancake Day at IHOP! Free pancakes! Whoo, hoo! I am so there.

What other celebrations are going on out there?

We’re settling back into the school routine, and I’m getting over the weirdness of having both kids in high school. This week I’m celebrating:

  1. End of summer fun at the Champlain Valley Fair! We went on lots of fun rides and had our traditional ice cream cones and maple donuts. I took my son to the Double Figure 8 Race/Demolition Derby event, and he loved it. I have to say it was quite entertaining.
  2. I donated copies of my book to 8 more libraries. On my way home, I stopped at a country store/deli for a sandwich, and after talking to the owner about my book in casual conversation, he bought three copies to sell in his store! Boy, was I surprised. You never know where opportunities will pop up.
  3. Went to my local library and couldn’t resist checking the online catalog to see if my book was back. I discovered it had been checked out again. Yay!
  4. Had my traditional IHOP back-to-school breakfast. Yum! 🙂

I’ve been on pins and needles this week, waiting for the designer I’m working with to finish up the book cover. I had originally hoped to release the book in about ten days, but at this point, that might be pushing it.

In the meantime, I’ve been working on setting up a blog tour for when my book finally does come out. I’m a little nervous about it, but I think it’s going to be fun! Some things I’d like to celebrate:

  1. Watching the old Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys TV series from the ’80s with my kids. We got the series on DVD for Christmas and just started watching the episodes. My kids love the books and the shows as much as I did at their age. (Okay, I admit I still like them, too.) 🙂
  2. Making progress with my blog tour plans.
  3. Going to IHOP with a friend for no other reason than to celebrate the fact that it was Tuesday. (I know that sounds silly, but it sure tasted good!)
